Settle in the UK Through Work-Related Visas
Individuals who have spent five continuous years in the UK under an eligible work route may qualify for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR). This path is available to those who have held valid permission under any of the following visa categories, or a combination of them:
- Skilled Worker
- Global Talent
- Innovator Founder
- T2 Minister of Religion
- International Sportsperson
- Representative of an Overseas Business
- Tier 1 (excluding Tier 1 (Graduate Entrepreneur))
- Scale-up visa
Applicants may also rely on time spent in the UK awaiting a decision on a Skilled Worker application, provided the following conditions are met:
- The application was for permission to stay and was granted leave;
- The application submitted between 24 January 2020 and 30 June 2021 (inclusive);
- It was supported at the time by a valid Certificate of Sponsorship from a licensed sponsor
To qualify for ILR, applicants must also meet additional requirements, including demonstrating continuous residence, meeting suitability and validity requirements, and passing the Life in the UK and English language test.
The rules surrounding work-based settlement can be complex, particularly when combining different routes. If you are considering applying for settlement based on your work history, we recommend seeking tailored legal advice.
